AWARDS COMMITTEEThe Awards Committee determines the categories and criteria for recognition, solicits and reviews nominations, and selects the award recipients. MCAE annually bestows the following awards at the NETWORK Conference's Awards Luncheon. Outstanding Educator Award is given to a teacher, counselor, administrator, support staff member, or volunteer who has made outstanding contributions to adult education at an individual, classroom, or program level. Outstanding Student Award is given to student who has demonstrated leadership within the teaching/learning environment and has overcome difficult circumstances to pursue adult education. Ruth E. Derfler Memorial Scholarship is given in memory of MCAE's past president and a beloved colleague to many in the adult education field. The scholarship is intended to help a recent ABE/ESOL graduate pursue higher education or job training.
