MCAE’s voice is amplified through the work of our members. Please consider joining one of our committees.
AWARDS COMMITTEE determines the categories and criteria for recognizing outstanding students, practitioners and leaders in adult education, solicits and reviews nominations, and selects the award recipients. MCAE's Annual Awards are made at the Awards Luncheon at NETWORK and include:
- Outstanding Educator
- Outstanding Student
- Ruth E. Derfler Scholarship Award for a student going on to higher education or job training
At the Awards Committee's discretion, a Lifetime Achievement recognition may also be given.
NETWORK CONFERENCE COMMITTEE plans and coordinates all aspects of MCAE’s annual NETWORK Conference for adult education practitioners and students in conjunction with MCAE staff and the Conference Coordinator. NETWORK is the largest adult education conference in New England and an outstanding professional development opportunity for those who work in adult education. Upcoming NETWORK Conference dates are:
- NETWORK 2020: April 3, 2020
- NETWORK 2021: March 26, 2021
- NETWORK 2022: April 1, 2022
- NETWORK 2023: March 31, 2023
DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE works to identify and pursue diversified funding for MCAE's advocacy and professional development activities.
PUBLIC POLICY COMMITTEE is one of the primary ways in which MCAE is the voice of adult education. The committee strategizes and implements an annual advocacy campaign to promote adult basic education appropriations, policy, and legislation that will positively affect adult basic education on both the state and federal levels.
